Introducing the new and improved Wee Birdy, the insiders’ scoop on where to find the good stuff.

This is a cosy little corner of Substack that's all about discovering hidden design/home/style treasures from around the world and connecting with like-minded folks who like lovely things.

It all began back in the summer of 2007, when I was living in London and I started a blog dedicated to uncovering secret spots and under-the-radar treasures. Fast forward to now, and I'm excited to bring that same sense of adventure and curiosity to my Substack.

About me

With over 27 years of experience in digital and print media, I was most recently the digital managing editor of Australian homes brands including Better Homes and Gardens, Gourmet Traveller, and Homes to Love (which encompasses Belle, Inside Out, Australian House & Garden, Home Beautiful, and Country Style). My experience also includes serving as the Deputy Shopping & Style Editor at Time Out London, as well as editing Cosmopolitan Bride, Cosmopolitan Pregnancy, and Cosmopolitan Hair & Beauty in Australia. This wealth of experience has honed my eye for design and my passion for all things home and lifestyle.

My Secret City

In this regular series you'll find a community of kindred spirits who share my passion for exploring off-the-beaten-path cafes, charming shops, and secret spots in cities around the world. These discoveries are curated by local creative insiders who know their stuff, so you can trust that you're getting the inside scoop.

There’s more

But Wee Birdy is more than just a guide to the best-kept secrets; it's also an invitation into my own world and home. I'll be sharing my latest finds and obsessions, and with my background in writing about home, interiors, and design, I'll be helping you create your own personality-packed space that reflects your unique style.

What other people have said about (the new) Wee Birdy Substack

“Magazine editor Rebecca Lowrey Boyd’s blog launched in 2007, when she moved to London (from Sydney) and very quickly established itself as a must-read if you were interested in independent shops, clever little finds and visually literate style generally.

Eventually life and other work took over, as they do. She had a baby, went back to Australia and worked on food, home and interiors mags for years. But now she’s BACK! Her newly-launched and brilliantly-curated Substack is heaven all over again, plus she’s posted a load of content on there already. I really like the jauntiness of that bird in her logo.” India Knight, Home

What other people have said about (the original) Wee Birdy blog

“Great fashion and imagery finds from one Australian journalist’s endearingly shiny view of London.” British Vogue, Secret Address Book

“Sometimes it takes outsider eyes to refocus your surroundings for you. Here is a native of Sydney whose blog registers all things good/unknown about her new home, London. Wee Birdy pokes around the back streets of the city for the best shops and sights, so you don’t have to.” The Sunday Times, “A guide to the 100 best blogs”

“A brilliant source for style mavens and curious folk alike!” Tracey Neuls
